Arborvitae - 'Green Giant' (Thuja plicata)

This arborvitae is a fast growing evergreen shrub or tree, with a broad, pyramid form. It makes an exceptional hedge or screen plant. Foliage is fragrant, dark green, and deer resistant! In winter the foliage darkens a bit, some with a bronze shading. Once established it is both wind resistant and tolerant of heavy snowfalls.

Arborvitae 'Emerald Green' (Thuja Occidentalis)

Narrow evergreen shrub or tree, in the Cypress family, reaching 8-10 ft in height and 3-4 ft in width. Slow growing! Nice plant for screening in small spaces. Foliage appears as flat 'sprays' and when you look at it up close it looks to be covered with tiny scales. It is not drought tolerant so water well during hot summers and mulch generously.

To call this perennial a strong spreader loved by hummingbirds is an understatement. Of course the bees love it too. Birch - River / Hertiage (Betula Nigra)

Birch - River or River Birch, all the same as a multiple-stemmed or single-stemmed tree growing 40-70 ft tall. Creamy peeling bark gives it undeniable character. Fall coloring of leaves is yellow. Fast growing and borer resistant, one of the most disease free birches available and good along streams, in low spots, or out front in the lawn to where it will draw attention to itself!

Birch - Whitespire (Betula Platyphylla Var Japonica)

Multiple-stemmed or single-stemmed tree growing 40-50 ft tall. Stark white peeling bark and yellow fall coloring makes this a standout specimen or accent tree in any setting. It is fast growing and borer resistant.

Black Gum (Nyssa Sylvatica)

Plant a Black Gum tree for you and future generations to enjoy. It attains a height between 30 and 50 ft and will be 20 to 30 ft wide. Growth rate is slow to medium. Fantastic fall tones of bright red make you stop and appreciate its presence in your yard. It does prefer moist soil, can even tolerate poorly-drained locations, and benefits from full sun to semi-shade. Serves nicely as an ornamental tree in your lawn. Be sure to leave plenty of room for it to grow!

Boulder - Weathered Sandstone

Add to your landscaping some light gray to brown sandstone boulders bearing moss and/or lichens. There are many sizes and shapes you may choose from but all are very weathered and natural looking. These are particularly superb for water features and serve beautifully as decorative boulder walls or garden area accents. Do not delay; come up with a place to put a few!

Boxwood 'Baby Jade' (Buxus)

Boxwood 'Green Mountain' (Buxus Koreana x Buxus Sempervirens)

Here's a pyramidal growing boxwood (broadleaf evergreen) shrub which grows 5 ft tall by 4 ft wide. Be sure to brighten the days of these shrubs by giving them a good couple inches of mulch. It's great to take out the dead or damaged branches each year as the air circulation improves! If you are planning or expanding a more formal garden, these will be terrific additions.

Boxwood 'Wintergreen' (Buxus Microphylla)

A compact growing broadleaf evergreen shrub, reaching 3 to 4 ft in height and spread. As with other boxwoods, a sheltered location serves them best. Use a fairly "average" soil and sun balance. They will be happy as accents in small areas, rock gardens, or as edging.

Brick edge - 3 piece cobblestone

A mix of 3 lengths: 2 1/4 inches, 4 1/2 inches, and/or 6 1/2 inches. Each piece has beveled edges to make nice curves. Perhaps you prefer one size only but you may want to consider using some of each to add some flexibility or just to mix it up a bit. The color is a blend of charcoal and red. Other color choices are available.

Buckeye 'Bottlebrush' (Aesculus)

Aesculus parviflora. commonly called bottlebrush buckeye, is noted for being one of the best summer-flowering shrubs for shade areas. It is a dense, mounded, suckering, deciduous, multi-stemmed shrub which typically grows 6-12' tall. Features palmate green leaves (5-7 leaflets) and erect, showy, cylindrical panicles (to 12" long) of tubular white flowers with conspicuous red anthers and pinkish filaments. Mid-summer bloom can be spectacular. Flowers give way to glossy inedible, pear-shaped nuts (buckeyes) encased in husks, however these nuts are infrequently produced in cultivation in the northern parts of this shrub's growing range (including St. Louis). Foliage turns yellow in autumn.

Burning Bush-Dwarf (Euonymus Alatus compactus)

If you love vivid colors and only have a relatively small space nothing beats this shrub! It achieves a 5 x 5 size and becomes a show stopper in the fall when it turns bright red. Watch its transition as you walk by it daily or, if it is in a more distant part of your landscape, be in awe when you gaze out and see it has gone from green to red 'overnight'.

Butterfly Bush (Buddleia)

Full sun brings out the best in this perennial and the results are not just the large purple, pink, yellow or white blossoms. It draws the attention of butterflies and you can "host" plenty of them as the bush grows to as much as 6 feet. You will enjoy its blooms beginning in June and all through Sept. Zagreb is considered a dwarf coreopsis - a perennial reaching a height of 12-18 inches. Needing dry to medium watering and full sun you will be pleased to learn it thrives in poor, sandy or rocky areas as long as there is good drainage. Crab - Sugar Tyme (Malus 'Sutyzam')

Crab-Prairiefire (Malus)

It's a crabapple tree (Prairiefire, Profusion, Indian Magic) which is disease resistant and tops off at 15 ft tall. In early spring it produces beautiful shades of pinkish-rose blooms. Later, small berry-like fruit, dark red purple 3/8 - 1/2 inches in diameter replace the flowers. Leaves are purplish green with purplish green bark, making the perfect backdrop for the growing season. You will find this tree adapts to a variety of soil conditions.

Cypress-Bald (Taxodium Distichum)

Somebody we know says this is her favorite tree and with good reason. First, it grows fast (she's impatient) and can reach 50-70 ft tall. It has delicate, fern-like foliage (she is a fern fanatic), light green needle-like leaves. The leaves turn coppery-bronze in fall. There aren't many problems associated with this deciduous tree (she likes that). The good news is, we can put Bald Cypress in your yards so you can mark it as your favorite too!
